2025 NBA Draft: Top 100 Composite Big Board (May Update)

May 1, 2025

This board reflects the current consensus across the five most influential mock draft outlets—ESPN, The Athletic, Bleacher Report, Tankathon, and No Ceilings—each weighted based on historical reliability and scouting depth. Rather than favoring any single voice, the Composite Big Board distills where momentum is, who’s being taken seriously by decision-makers, and which names are falling out of favor.

Rankings are determined using only the most recent mock from each outlet. Players not included are assigned a penalty rank equal to one spot worse than the outlet's final ranked player. This ensures that absence from a mock is treated as signal, not noise.

This is not a mock draft, and it's not a big board in the traditional scouting sense. It’s a market composite—a snapshot of current sentiment among major evaluators and draft analysts. It reflects where players stand today in the eyes of the basketball media machine, not their long-term value or potential outcome.

In other words:

  • Inclusion matters

  • Absence is penalized

  • Rankings are responsive to new information (e.g. workouts, measurements, tournament runs)

Teams, agents, and media teams alike track how a player’s visibility shifts over time. This composite ranking gives you:

  • A clearer sense of draftable range

  • Insight into which sources are driving movement

  • A mechanism for spotting gaps between hype and consensus

This is also a helpful gut check—who’s really on the radar vs. who’s just circulating in Twitter circles.

As the pre-draft process accelerates—workouts, agency pro days, and intel seasons—the Composite Big Board will continue to evolve. Players rise. Players vanish. This board captures that movement in real time.

Key Trends

The top tier has stabilized. Cooper Flagg remains the clear-cut No. 1, with Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey, and VJ Edgecombe consistently rounding out the top four across all major mocks.

The rest of the lottery is fluid, but defined. The next group is made up primarily of high-upside underclassmen—all of whom have officially declared for the draft. While their final order will shift based on combine results, interviews, workout buzz, and team needs, the general cohort projected in this range appears locked in.

Further down the board, we’re gaining clarity. Several fringe second-round prospects have opted to withdraw from the draft before the early-entry deadline. Players like Alex Karaban, JoJo Tugler, JT Toppin, and Bennett Stirtz may have drawn interest from teams, but instead will return to college. The evolution of the NIL landscape has made that decision more financially viable—especially for players hovering outside the top 40.

Several prospects are testing the waters while keeping options open. Players like Yaxel Lendeborg (Michigan), Cedric Coward (Duke), and Darrion Williams (Transfer Portal) remain in evaluation limbo, with decisions that could impact both the NBA and NCAA landscapes. Their final calls could impact depth across the back half of the draft.

The bottom of the board skews older. Many of the players ranked in the 60–100 range are auto-eligible seniors, most of whom benefitted from the COVID eligibility extension. That window is closing, but for now, teams have another opportunity to find cost-effective, NBA-ready contributors in the late second round or as priority undrafted free agents.

Prospects to Watch

Yaxel Lendeborg | PF | UAB
A late first- to early second-round prospect with modern big man versatility—Lendeborg can handle, pass, rebound, and defend in space. He declared for the 2025 NBA Draft while retaining eligibility and committing to Michigan, where he could team with Morez Johnson Jr. and Aday Mara in a retooled frontcourt. Following a strong official visit, buzz has grown around a possible return to college, though NBA teams may try to lock him into the draft with a promise.

Thomas Sorber | C | Georgetown
A throwback big with modern instincts, Sorber impressed early as a freshman at Georgetown, showcasing strong two-way production—14.5 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 2.0 BPG—before a foot injury ended his season in February. Despite limited athleticism, his feel, vertical defense, and interior passing earned him draft buzz, with some scouts viewing him as a first-round talent pending medical clearance. He remains in the draft for now, though his recovery will likely keep him out of the pre-draft workout circuit. A return to college could significantly boost his stock for 2026, but all eyes are on whether a team offers a draft promise that keeps him in.

Labaron Philon | PG | Alabama
One of the more polarizing guards in the class, Philon flashes on tape with his shiftiness, feel, and competitive fire—but his shaky jumper remains a major red flag. At 6'3", 175 pounds, he's not an elite athlete or shooter, which makes his long-term role harder to pin down. He declared for the draft after a strong freshman year at Alabama but left the door open to return. If he shows real shooting growth or earns a developmental commitment from a team, he could stick in this class—otherwise, a second year in Tuscaloosa may better position him for 2026.

Drake Powell | SG | North Carolina
A former five-star recruit, Powell entered North Carolina with first-round expectations and flashed the tools that earned him that hype—defensive versatility, transition athleticism, and spot-up shooting touch. Despite a modest freshman stat line (7.4 PPG, 3.4 RPG), he carved out a key role late in the year, starting the final 11 games for a UNC team that leaned on his instincts and length. Powell declared for the draft and has signaled he intends to stay in, but some scouts believe a return to school could’ve helped him showcase more of his creation upside. If he interviews and tests well, he remains a potential second-round riser with long-term role player equity.
